Grace Potter & The NocturnalsGrace Potter & The Nocturnals

11.98
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are like a modern-day version of Tina Turner stroking the microphone in a spangled mini-dress while fronting the Rolling Stones circa Sticky Fingers. The proof is there for all to hear on the band's third album for Hollywood Records and marks an artistic breakthrough for a vital young band caught in the act of fulfilling its immense promise. Little wonder that Grace and her cohorts have chosen to title it, directly and emphatically, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. Album produced by Mark Batson (Jay-Z, Dr Dre, Alicia Keys).

9.98
Jewel is maintaining her country roots as she returns to the format with her sophomore follow-up album, Sweet and Wild. The album, written and produced by Jewel, will be released on June 11th. The first single, "Stay Here Forever," has been embraced by critics and the video is a success on CMT and GAC. "The theme of this album is finding what's true about you and your life, and defending it and valuing it above all else," said Jewel. "My newest country album will share so many of my personal feelings of love and happiness that I have written into the songs," said Jewel, who married her longtime boyfriend Ty Murray in the summer of 2008. Jewel will also embark on a tour sponsored by Country Financial to support Sweet and Wild. Also near and dear to Jewel's heart is her charitable initiative, Project Cleanwater, which she continues to support, unwaveringly. Jewel founded Project Clean Water in 1997. Having experienced homelessness as a teenager, Jewel became ill and couldn't afford to buy the bottled water she needed for her sick kidneys. She then realized it was difficult to obtain clean water in the United States, and discovered it was a huge problem globally. She has been relentless in her efforts to bring safe water to those in need and create awareness of clean water shortages around the world. Project Clean Water has recently partnered with Virgin Unite and the Voss Foundation to create the "Give A Drop" campaign. Donations of $5.00 can be made by texting the message "DROP" to phone number 85944. Money raised through text donations will benefit the partnership, which is currently working in Pel in the Dogon region of Mali, where 40 water retention structures were recently completed. This spring, work will also begin to help rural villages in southeast Ethiopia expand their access to clean water. Jewel currently lives on a working ranch in Stephenville, Texas with her husband, World Champion bull-riding superstar, Ty Murray.

Deer Tick is the songwriting project or band (depending on how you look at it) of John McCauley, a singer/songwriter based out of Providence, Rhode Island. Thanks to the help of Brendon "Viking Moses" Massei, McCauley has been ferociously zig-zagging across the United States, hitting all the sparsely attended basement shows, smoky bars, upscale joints, small to medium size festivals, and everything in between, since April of 2005.

OrianthiBelieve (Ii)

9.98
As Orianthi prepares to hit the road with Adam Lambert (Spring/Summer 2010), she has also been busy recording some new music including her current single "Shut Up & Kiss Me." This song, and others, appear on a new edition of her debut album Believe. Believe (II) features four newly recorded tracks including current single "Shut Up & Kiss Me," "Courage," and "Missing You," all produced by Howard Benson, plus "Addicted To Love" which was produced by RedOne. Also on the album, selections from the original Believe release include her debut hit single "According To You," "Bad News," "Feels Like Home," "Think Like A Man," What's It Gonna Be," "Suffocated," "Highly Strung" and "Believe." It's been just over a year since Australian guitar virtuoso Orianthi first grabbed our attention with her mesmerizing guitar solo during Carrie Underwood's "Last Name" performance at the 2009 Grammys. The blogosphere starting buzzing with word of a new girl with guitar chops and soon Michael Jackson called and hired her on the spot to join his "This Is It" tour. Sadly the tour was not to be but Orianthi took center stage as she released her debut album Believe and first single "According To You" in the fall of 2009. Radio and fans were quick to embrace "According To You" propelling it to the top of the charts where it was the #2 most played song in the country with digital sales of over 1 million! In addition to Carrie Underwood and Michael Jackson, Orianthi has also performed with Carlos Santana, Steve Vai, Prince and most recently Mary J. Blige on her rendition of Led Zepplin's "Stairway To Heaven." Orianthi and Steve Vai shot a video for her song "Highly Strung," and instrumental guitar dueling track on her album, which became an internet sensation as viewers would see she and Steve battle their strings. Orianthi appears in the Michael Jackson tour rehearsal documentary "This Is It" which was released worldwide last fall. She has appeared on many television shows including Good Morning America, The View, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Ellen DeGeneres show, American Idol and more.

From Kris Kristofferson, Ray Price, and John Prine to Andrew Bird, My Morning Jacket, and Dr. Dog, Twistable, Turnable Man: A Musical Tribute to the Songs of Shel Silverstein is an eclectic, endearing valentine to this giant of American song.

Teenage FanclubShadows

$ 13.98 11.98
Five long years since their last album "Man-Made" was released to universal acclaim, Teenage Fanclub release "Shadows" to keen anticipation. Pitchfork calls Scotland's Teenage Fanclub "the standard-bearers of modern power pop." Continued, "no one comes close to their mastery of the genre." While most bands are lucky to have one great songwriter, Teenage Fanclub are blessed with three, hence Shadows is overflowing with the kind of gorgeous, harmony-driven classics you'd expect to find on a greatest hits album. Teenage Fanclub plan to tour the US in September 2010.

RENEE FLEMINGDark Hope

15.98
One of the World's Great Voices Puts Her Indelible Signature On Songs By Arcade Fire, Band of Horses, Death Cab For Cutie, The Mars Volta, Muse, and of course, Leonard Cohen. Renée Fleming s new album 'Dark Hope', which the opera star describes as a visit to a new universe for her, will be released by Decca this spring. The album was recorded in close collaboration with producer David Kahne (Regina Spektor, The Strokes, The Bangles, Sublime, and countless others) in New York City, and features a diverse and adventurous track listing of songs as interpreted by one of the world s great voices. Fleming, the superstar soprano known as "the people's diva," says of the songs on 'Dark Hope': "One of the ways that you keep people interested is by taking risks and what could be a greater risk than this?" Producer Kahne was a true collaborator during the recording process, driving most of the arrangements and pushing Fleming to learn how to sing all over again. Also joining Fleming on the album are her two daughters and sister, who sing backup on several songs.

Tokyo Police ClubChamp

11.98
Tokyo Police Club make adjustments to tempo, mood, and song length on this sophomore album, released two years after the group†s Elephant Shell debut. The danceable indie rock that helped launch Tokyo Police Club†s career hasn†t been entirely abandoned, but it does take the back seat during this midtempo ride, which seems less interested in working up a sweat than exploring new directions. On songs like "†Bambi,†" though, the guys kill two birds with one stone. Kinetic and tuneful, the song also experiments with electronic keyboard effects, allowing Tokyo Police Club to challenge themselves while still playing to their strengths. Andrew Leahey

Against Me!White Crosses

13.97
'White Crosses' is as powerful and as bold a rock record as one can imagine. The band roars like fighter jets screaming over a stadium on the anthemic title-track (with its shout along line about smashing the 4,000 crosses on a local church's lawn, ones that signify the number of babies aborted each day in the U.S.). Joining that is the escapist fury of 'Spanish Moss,' and the short stick of dynamite, 'Rapid Decompression.' 'New Wave' eschewed some of the roughness of the band's earlier efforts, but 'White Crosses' goes even further in filling out the band's wallop. With its twinkling piano and a glorious whoa-oa chorus, 'Because Of The Shame' could be an outtake from Bruce Springsteen's classic 'Born To Run.' 'Ache With Me' is a slow-jam that would make Paul Westerberg blush, while 'High Pressure Low' is Billy Idol meets fellow Gainesville native Tom Petty. 'This is my Florida record,' says Gabel. 'I spent a lot of time writing this record while driving directionless on forgotten Florida state roads, highly caffeinated, with albums like [Petty's] 'Full Moon Fever' blasting on my stereo.'

Henry Clay PeopleSomewhere On The Golden Coast

10.97
If you haven’t pumped your fist (or cracked a beer) by the time they get to a full-on keyboard-driven rave-up on “End Of An Empire," it’s time for a blood pressure check. The band has a sensitive side too — “We are damaged goods; we are damaged but we’re still good,” they sing on the nostalgic “A Temporary Fix” — but the majority of the no-filler 34 minutes of “Somewhere on the Golden Coast” is a loud, driving dedication to rock ’n’ roll’s propensity for keeping us from working too hard. And they don’t sound anywhere near ready to quit, either.

Nada SurfIf I Had A Hi-Fi

11.98
if i had a hi-fi is a covers album full of inspired, unexpected choices: from avant-pop Kate Bush to underground power-pop classicist Dwight Twilley. There are some intriguingly obscure numbers, like Spanish band Mercromina's "Evolution" and under-documented Bill Fox's "Electrocution". It also features tracks by The Go-Betweens, Arthur Russell, Spoon, and more. This record will be released on June 8th, but the band is making copies available early for Record Store Day.

Delta SpiritHistory From Below

13.98
History from Below is the highly anticipated follow-up to Delta Spirit's captivating debut album, Ode To Sunshine, which brought the band thousands upon thousands of passionate fans, along with the kind of critical acclaim most bands dream about. SPIN hailed the album in its four-out-of-five-star review, saying, "This rousing debut impresses mightily," while Filter called it "Pure joy" and Jim Fusilli of the Wall Street Journal said, "I make no pretense of objectivity with Delta Spirit, I love these guys." After touring non-stop to support their debut, the band came off the road and wrote and recorded their new album in just a few short months with the help of Eli Thomson and Bo Koster (My Morning Jacket) at Prairie Sun studios, the same place Tom Waits has recorded almost exclusively since 1991. History from Below showcases a road-tested band that picks right up where Ode To Sunshine left off, with 11 new rocking, soulful songs, including the driving lead single "Bushwick Blues" and the anthemic "Golden State."

14.98

Chicago-based AM Taxi combines experience with exuberance on their Virgin Records debut, We Don't Stand A Chance. The trio began writing and recording and produced their first EP, Runaway Songs. Shortly after, they were joined by brothers John and Luke Schmitt on guitar and keyboards. AM Taxi began establishing a rep as a dynamic live outfit with headlining performances at local clubs like the Metro and soon after recorded their second EP, The Good, The Bad and The Fed Up.

Dierks BentleyUp On The Ridge

11.98
Conventional wisdom says that in the music business, once you achieve a certain threshold of success, caution should be your guide. You've come this far, you're told by everyone around you. Don't surprise your audience too much. But trepidation will not be part of Dierks Bentley's legacy. At every turn in his career, he's done his own thing, whether that meant touring with jam bands, playing rock venues or recording with bluegrass all-stars on platinum country albums. Now Dierks steps forward with his most artistically daring project yet - the all-acoustic Up On The Ridge - a powerful, beautiful album steeped in the bluegrass and roots music that moved Dierks Bentley to be a country musician in the first place.

Kristin HershCats & Mice

10.98
2010 live release from the singer/songwriter and founder of Throwing Muses and 50FootWave. Cats And Mice captures a unique solo performance presented complete and unedited, recorded amid the lush acoustics of San Francisco's fabled Jazz club Yoshi's. The set list draws deep from the well of Appalachian Folk songs and murder ballads that her grandparents taught her, which typically feature in her rare "Shady Circle" appearances at people's homes. Bantering with and even taking requests from the faithful audience, she performs stunning versions of songs from her solo career (from Hips and Makers up to 2010's Crooked), and even a couple of Throwing Muses favorites. Several make their first appearance on any Hersh release here!

Fela!Original Broadway Cast Recordi

16.98
Recorded in one day in early March, the record documents the magic of the hit Broadway musical that The New York Times, TimeOut NY and New York Magazine called the 'Best of 2009!' FELA! Original Broadway Cast Recording features the incomparable Sahr Ngaujah as Fela singing with the irrepressibly funky Anitbalas. All 16 of the Fela compositions that are performed on stage each night are on the record as are several songs performed by Funmalayo as played by Lilias White, and Sandra Izadore as played by Saycon Sengbloh. The record was produced by Robert Sher who has been nominated for many Broadway Cast Recording Grammys. Based on the life of groundbreaking African composer and performer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, FELA! is the critically acclaimed Broadway musical that uses Fela's music to explore his life as an artist, political activist and revolutionary musician. Directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Bill T. Jones with arrangements by Aaron Johnson and Antibalas, FELA! is a provocative hybrid of concert, dance and musical theatre. The cast recording captures the electricity and joy that thousands have experienced at the Eugene O'Neill Theater every night since the play opened on November 23, 2009. The record is a document of that experience, yet at the same time is a musical statement in its own right.

Steve WinwoodRevolutions: Very Best Of Stev

13.98
Island Records/UMe will release the definitive career retrospective of one of the all-time greats of rock `n' roll on June 8, 2010. Entitled Revolutions - The Very Best Of Steve Winwood, it is a portrait of one of the most influential musicians in rock history, a singer-songwriter, peerless vocalist, guitarist and keyboard player. With tracklistings personally selected by Steve Winwood from his five decade career, Revolutions - The Very Best Of Steve Winwood also includes a re-recorded version of "Spanish Dancer." A child prodigy, Winwood first performed live on stage at the tender age of 8 in his father's traditional jazz band, and joined the Spencer Davis Group at 14. His stunning vocal style was compared to Ray Charles. He left Spencer Davis to form Traffic then later teamed up with Eric Clapton in Blind Faith at the tail-end of the Sixties. Arguably his biggest successes came with his solo work from the Seventies on. In a career lasting nearly 50 years he has sold over 50 million albums and several of his songs have become standards, notably "Gimme Some Lovin'" (memorably covered in The Blues Brothers film), "Can't Find My Way Home," "The Low Spark Of The High Heeled Boys," "Higher Love" and "Roll With It." He has been awarded multiple Grammy Awards - for "Gimme Some Lovin'" and "Higher Love" (a US no 1 in '86). In 2008, Rolling Stone ranked him number 33 in the 100 Best Singers Of All Time. Steve Winwood will perform at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Festival on June 26 in Chicago followed by a U.S. tour with Santana.

Anna RoseNomad

11.98
Anna Rose is a 24-year-old singer, songwriter, pianist, and - primarily- guitarist crazy about rock and roll at its most ruggedly expressive. She was born in Manhattan, raised upstate, and returned to New York after several years living in Los Angeles. Her songs concentrate on contrasts between people, places, emotions, and several thousand other things in ways that are as carefully considered as they sound completely organic. She bases her music in the classic rock of '60s and '70s California yet re-routes it into new explorations all her own. Anna Rose, releases her debut full-length album, Nomad, a collection of 12 original songs in June 2010, which follows her well-received 2009 EP, Anna Rose. Recorded in New York, Nomad was produced by Billy Sullivan and Anna Rose, with Bruce Botnick, who produced the 60s bands, Love and The Doors, serving as Executive Producer. Nomad makes a singular impression of a female singer-songwriter imagining with fresh new verve the great rock and roll tradition of high craft and liberated spirit.

Ariel Pink's Haunted GraffitiBefore Today

12.98
With roots going back as far as 1996, the West Coast act are as sublime as they are surreal with a sound loaded with hazy nostalgia and a fiercely experimental pop palette. From the Haunted Graffiti series (from which the full band s name is now derived), which featured the likes of Worn Copy (2005) and House Arrest (2006), Ariel Pink has established himself as one of the most prolific songwriters of his generation, a visionary producer in the vein of Joe Meek and Ariel s hero and previous collaborator, tape deck dilettante, R. Stevie Moore, creating a world through certain production touches.
