One of the most iconic figures in rock history, Dewey Cox (John C. Reilly) had it all: women, friends and the rock 'n' roll lifestyle. But most of all, he had the music that transformed a dimwitted country boy into the greatest American rock star who never lived. Special features include commentary, deleted and extended scenes, the making of Walk Hard and much more.Reviews:
Damn you, America! John C. Reilly has been honing his considerable comic chops for years, from Boogie to Talladega nights. So the 42-year-old character actor extraordinaire finally gets a lead role in a parody directed by Judd Apatow, the hottest comic mind in Hollywood' and nobody goes. This long overdue send-up of music biopics didn't just produce theatrical chortles, but an equally uproarious, dwarf-obsessed soundtrack to boot. As far as the plot goes, you know the drill by now, thanks to Ray, Walk the Line, La Bamba and their countless brethren: Young artist survives hardscrabble upbringing, discovers voice against all odds, improbably rockets to fame, embarks on pathetic drug-fueled descent, then somehow recaptures modicum of glory, not without valuable lessons learned. Reilly's misguided folkie Cox has his Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and Bob Dylan periods. As for the Fat Elvis period? We won't spoil the fun, although watch out for White Stripes shredder Jack White's cameo as a young King.
