The long-awaited second album by Abase, a jazz x Afrobeat project by the talented Hungarian artist Szabolcs Bognar, will be released on Japan-edition CD (paper sleeve) with an unreleased bonus track!The album, titled 'Awakening,' reflects a new vision brought by his own recent developments, including a move to Berlin. Avoiding multiple recordings, many of the songs were improvised and recorded in 1ST or 2ND takes. The ensemble, which includes the magnificent spiritual jazz 'Sun Is Away,' featuring guest appearances by members of the Sun Ra Arkestra, and a host of other world-class musicians from Hungary, Germany, Ghana, and Australia, is an impressive synthesis of Bognar's past musical influences with modal improvisations that could be described as Coltrane-esque.
