Ellen Page alert number one: America's sweetheart plays the brainy, alienated daughter of Dennis Quaid's a-hole Carnegie Mellon professor in this blink-and-you-missed-it dramedy. Doesn't sound like much of a stretch, but Page does well in a critical supporting role, leaving the heavy lifting to Quaid, his screwed-up adoptive brother (Thomas Haden Church) and ex-student crush (Sarah Jessica Parker). The smart money says People is worth the investment.
