Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye is decidedly darker than it's predecessor, and the accompanying musical score follows suit. Sure, the base game's music takes an occasional turn toward the dark & mysterious, but for Echoes of the Eye, composer Andrew Prahlow slammed down on those thrusters hard. The result is a more alien and sometimes even more hostile take on the Outer Wilds audio universe, dipping into echoing choral arrangements and staccato soundscapes that remind one of the unforgiving emptiness of space. The true achievement of this score, then, is the way that it evokes all those primal fears of cosmic smallness while still maintaining an undeniably compelling beauty. Enter those soundscapes again and again through the magic of your turntable on the Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye Vinyl Soundtrack.
